it's working!!!

I am BEYOND happy that my website is finally working!!! It's not finished by any means. Well, I'm not sure it's ever finished. It will always be a bit of a work-in-progress. But my pages are set up, I've got pictures loaded and a good bit of text pages. I'm happy.

wonderful beads

This weekend I received my beads I had ordered from Andrew Thornton. But I didn't just get my beads. I got so many extras!!! Extra beads and a beautiful ATC with a note of thanks from Andrew.

I felt immediately inspired! I pulled out the semi-precious stone beads I purchased from My Color Image when we went to Chattanooga last Christmas and got to work. I'm quite happy with the end results.

Thank you Andrew!!! It was a pleasure doing business with you.

"Many Lands, Many Hands" - now on sale

This winter I took part in an extremely fun project. We circulated 4 art journals among many artists across states, oceans, countries, Continent's. And now I'm happy to say the book has been published. The book is 158 pages of awesome images taken from the 4 traveling Journals which took around 10 months to circulate the world. There is a grand total of 70 participating Artists which is just amazing when you think about it!

'Many Lands, Many Hands' is now available for purchase. The book looks fantastic, very professional and really shows how a group of artists can come together to produce something fantastic. You can purchase your own copy here.

Artist Bloghop

I did have this set up as a gadget on my blog. But I dislike the way it stretches my blog out. After all, there now close to 250 artists on the link!!! So I thought it better if I just added it to a post. Then I can still go back and check out all the new artists as they add themselves to the list.

Do you want to add your link to an art bloghop and get connected with other artists like you? Then do it! Just add your link and forward this to everyone!

Grizzly

I started this painting around 2003. I'd hang it on the wall when I got stumped and think about it for awhile. Then it just kind of.... hung... for several years. Recently I pulled it off the wall to look at what needed to be done and decided it was done.

It's fairly large at 24" X 36". Acrylics on canvas.

Salon Style

Let me start by saying my studio is crowded!!! But until we get our barn situation worked out (the roof leaks, the back wall is caving in, it's a favorite hide-out for neighborhood cats & chicks & ducks) the studio will stay crowded. I have piles and piles of books I don't want to get rid of but I just don't have space for right now. But I can't put them in the barn until we have water-tight storage.

So in the studio they will stay. But still, I wanted to get organized.

I wanted the works-in-progresses up where I can see them. Keeps them fresh in my mind and thinking about what I wanted to do with them.

I wanted the finished pieces visible. Keeps me conscience about my evolving style.

So I decided to hang everything thru out the studio salon style.

This is the back wall, most visible from the living room. (note: the studio is open to the living room so things have to have a little bit of order.)

A close-up with a mix of w-i-p and finished pieces (plus one soon-to-be-published piece)

a close-up of 3 of my favorite crows: Grow, Snow & Show

The crows at a distance. Behind the curtain? Boxes and boxes of mixed media and found objects.

My lovely chair. I'm so it love with that chair sometimes I sit in it simply to sit :)

a close-up of some 3D w-i-p. There's 2 dolls on the table, 2 paper mache' pieces and 3 clay sculptures. Oh yeah, and one mixed media book (the copper mesh piece).

Same view, far away. A few more paintings are visable, including a few more crows.

newest pendants

I was in the mood to make some clay pendants the other day. I made a pair and gave one (the teal-green one) to a friend. I kept the pink one of course... cos I'm a Pink Gal.

They are made from air-dry paper clay. I included a bit of mixed media: beads, sea glass, decorative papers. The pink one says "dream" and the teal one says "soar". In the future I plan on making more, only 2 sided. The front will have an inspirational word. The back will say "Fre' Of SIDS". And a proceed of any sales will go to the Fre' Of SIDS foundation. (in my much neglected etsy shop - which has never been opened to the public. lol lots of good that does!)

The photograph is taken on my fabulous new studio chair. I love the print!!! It's chocolate brown with an organic mix of sage and blue flowers and leaves. My studio is a bright green and it opens to the living room (which has taupe walls with sage, burgundy and chocolate accents). So I think the chair looks rather nice. The blue makes it only the "Studio Chair"... but the chocolate and green makes it coordinate with the living room. It's almost as if I planned it! ;-)
